CIVAS GENERAL ASSEMBLY (RUA)

With the end of the 2005-2008 period of CIVAS’ organizational structure and as written in the Statutes of the organization, CIVAS had held a General Assembly (RUA) on March 20 to 22, 2009 in Bogor. The General Assembly was attended by Primary Members and Guests.

As part of the agenda, on March 20, 2009, assembly participants had an informal discussion about Animal Health in Indonesia : The Past, The Present, and The Future with speaker Tri Satya Putri N.H., DVM, MPhil., PhD. On that same day, participants reviewed CIVAS’ journey from 2005 until 2008 through a slide show of photos taken from events when CIVAS was first built until the last event in 2008.

On March 21, 2009, the General Assembly was officially opened by Chairman of the General Assembly Preparation Committee (PPRUA), Pebi Purwo Suseno, DVM, who then chaired the assembly until the General Assembly Chairman was selected. The elected Chairman of the General Assembly for the entire session was Pebi Purwo Suseno, DVM, with Vice Chairman M. D. Winda Widyastuti, DVM.

Many important decisions were made in the General Assembly to facilitate changes in the organizational structure and the vision of the organization to become a reliable and leading organization in the fields of animal health, veterinary public health, and animal welfare.
The General Assembly had appointed the new Directive Board, determined candidates for the new Director Executive, developed new Program Guidelines (GBPK), and decided on other important matters related to the organization.

The elected Directive Board is:
Chairman : Tri Satya Putri N.H., DVM, MPHil., PhD.
Member : Elly Sawitri Sudiana, DVM, MSc.
Didin Sudiana, DVM, MM.
Memed Z. Hassan, DVM
Noeri Widowati, DVM, MSc.
Chaerul Basri, DVM, M.Epid
Pebi Purwo Suseno, DVM
Candidates for the new Director Executive were Albertus Teguh Muljono, DVM and La Ode Nur Ilham Ndoaka. The new Director Executive will be elected by the Directive Board.

In the new Program Guidelines, CIVAS is expected to improve the capability and role of the organization in animal health research. In the upcoming period, CIVAS will focus more on zoonoses, food safety, and other emerging diseases.
