Grateful the Wealth Archipelago

Indonesia Academy of Sciences (AIPI) on Wednesday, September 5th, 2012, in cooperation with the Faculty of veterinary medicine, Bogor agricultural University (FKH-IPB) and the Indonesia Institute of Science (LIPI) held a national seminar themed “Conservation and Sustainable Use of Animal Germ Plasm Archipelago”. In this opportunity, CIVAS got a chance to attend and participate in these seminars. Representative from CIVAS is Albertus Teguh Muljono.

CIVAS General Assembly 2012

With the end of the 2009-2011 leadership period of the Center for Indonesian Veterinary Analytical Studies (CIVAS) Directive and Executive Board, CIVAS held a General Assembly on January 14 - 15, 2012 in Bogor. The purpose of the General Assembly is to discuss improvement of the organization’s statute, determine Major Program Outlines (MPO) of the organization for the next 3 year period, for a new Directive Board, and choose Executive Director Candidates. The General Assembly was officially opened by Chairman of the Assembly Preparation Committee, Ridvana Dwibawa, DVM. Sessions in the General Assembly was chaired by M.D. Winda Widyastuti, DVM, and vice Sunandar, DVM.

Public Awareness on “Food Safety for the Welfare of Our Nation” in Celebration of CIVAS 6th Anniversary

To celebrate the 6th anniversary of Center for Indonesian Veterinary Analytical Studies (CVAS), the organization conducted a series of public awareness activities themed “Food Safety for the Welfare of Our Nation”. These events are also made in preparation for Eid al-Adha 1432H, where many people buy animals to be sacrificed, conduct their own slaughtering, and consume the meat and offal of the animals. The public awareness activities aim to increase public knowledge on how to identify healthy animals, manage sacrificial meat and offal, and choose and process all meat in general. Three main targets are the general public, mosque administrators, and housewives. Public awareness was given through the radio, direct meetings, handing out leaflets in markets, and examination of sacrificial animals.

World Rabies Day 2011 Celebration

The World Rabies Day (WRD) is celebrated on September 28 each year worldwide. This year, CIVAS celebrates WRD through 2 events in Bali and Jakarta. CIVAS participated in WRD celebration in Denpasar, Bali, on September 28, 2011, through an exhibition, seminar on Rabies situation and mitigation in Bali, and Public Service: Animal Clinic. In Jakarta, CIVAS with the Indonesian Veterinary Student Association (IMAKAHI) from the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Branch held a sympathy act at Bundaran Air Mancur and Patung Kuda - Monas, Jakarta on October 2, 2011. 

CIVAS Participation in the 2nd National Epidemiology Workshop and 1st AEVI Congress

Yogyakarta, 13-14 December 2010

On December 13th and 14th, 2010, the Indonesian Veterinary Epidemiology Association (AEVI) held its 2nd National Epidemiology Workshop and 1st Congress at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Gadjah Mada University (FKH-UGM) in Yogyakarta. The event was attended by over 30 participants from government institutions, academicians, and private veterinarians. CIVAS also sent its representative, Riana A. Arief, DVM, whom is also a member of the association. The workshop and congress was started with opening remarks from the General Chairman of AEVI, Prof. Setyawan Budiharta, DVM, MPH, PhD and was officially opened by the Dean of the Veterinary Medicine Faculty, Prof. Dr. Bambang Sumiarto, DVM, SU, MSc.

CIVAS in the 11th National Veterinary Scientific Conference in IVMA CCE 2010

Semarang, 10-13 October 2010
From October 10 to 13, 2010, the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) held the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association Congress, Conference and Exhibition (IVMA CCE) “Environment Health: Veterinary Roles for a Better Health and a Safer World” in Gumaya Hotel, Semarang, to celebrate A Century of Veterinary in Indonesia. Events held were the 16th Congress of the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association, the 11th National Veterinary Scientific Conference (KIVNAS), and the 1st Indonesia Small Animal Practitioner International Conference (KIVHIK). The overall event was endorsed by the Governor of Central Java Bibit Waluyo and Vice Minister of Agriculture Bayu Krisnamurthi.

Training on Wild Animal Trapping by Scott Stopak 23-29 September 2010

From September 23 to 29, 2010, a series of Training on Wild Animal Capture and Trapping was held by Scott Stopak from the Wildlife Services of the United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA APHIS). Participating in the trainings were CIVAS, officers of the Livestock Service Office of Sukabumi District, officers of the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) of West Java, and staff of the Gadog Animal Rescue Center (PPS Gadog).

1st International Congress of South East Asia Veterinary School Association (SEAVSA) “Animal Health and Production for Better ASEAN Quality of Life - Challenge of Veterinary Education”

Bogor, 20 July 2010.  The World Animal Health Organization (OIE/WAHO) on October 2009 held a meeting between Deans from all Veterinary Medicine Faculties/Schools in the World. One result of the meeting was a recommendation for each Nation or Nations within a region to establish a certifying Veterinary Institute which aims to increase the integrity and collaboration between Nations in a region. As a response to that recommendation, on December 7, 2009, Veterinary Medicine Faculties/Schools in ASEAN established the South East Asia Veterinary School Association (SEAVSA) in Putra Jaya, Malaysia.
