Batanghari – Cases of rabies are still found in Batanghari District in 2015. Records from Batanghari Livestock and Fisheries Services report 6 rabies cases in animals (dogs and cat).

Head of Livestock and Fishery Security Division, Zulmanudin, said the cases occurred in 5 subdistricts.

“The six rabies cases occurred in Pemayung, Mersam, Bajubang, Tembesi and MuaraBuliansubdistricts,” said Zulmanudin.

Meanwhile, to prevent further spread of rabies, authorized institutions took action by culling animals likely infected by the virus. Hundreds of feral/stray dogs were poisoned. (Aj)
