Cattle Census in West Java in May-June 2011

Bandung - The Central Statistical Agency of West Java is going to conduct a census on the population of cattle and buffalos in the province in May and June 2011. This step is taken to measure the meat production capacity and public consumption rate of the commodity.
Head of the Distribution Statistics Division of the Agency, Anggoro Dwitjahyono, on Tuesday (4/1/2011) in Bandung said the census will be conducted on large farms, smallholders, and feedlot companies. Results of the census are expected to be published by the end of this year.

Anggoro said the census is conducted inline with the 2014 Beef Self-Sufficiency Program. For the census, the agency will assign 15,000 officers to list the cattle population in 6,000 villages.
Each village will be covered by 2 officers, with one supervisor for every 3 villages, Anggoro said. He predicted the census will require 1 to 1.5 months to finish.
By the end of this year, it is expected that maps of farms, companies, and beef cattle and buffalo population in West Java could be finished. (Gregorius Magnus Finesso)
