With the end of the 2009-2011 leadership period of the Center for Indonesian Veterinary Analytical Studies (CIVAS) Directive and Executive Board, CIVAS held a General Assembly on January 14 – 15, 2012 in Bogor. The purpose of the General Assembly is to discuss improvement of the organization’s statute, determine Major Program Outlines (MPO) of the organization for the next 3 year period, for a new Directive Board, and choose Executive Director Candidates. The General Assembly was officially opened by Chairman of the Assembly Preparation Committee, Ridvana Dwibawa, DVM. Sessions in the General Assembly was chaired by M.D. Winda Widyastuti, DVM, and vice Sunandar, DVM.
The General Assembly decreed new missions, MPO, Directive Board, and Executive Director Candidates. The organization’s new mission is:
- Develop and carry out studies and research to improve animal health, veterinary public health, animal welfare, and the environment.
- Provide and present data and information on animal health, veterinary public health, animal welfare, and the environment.
- Encourage the government in pro-poor policy-making for animal health, veterinary public health, animal welfare, and the environment.
- Increase public role and capacity in animal health, veterinary public health, animal welfare, and the environment.
- Empower the public in exploring and developing local resources.
Based on the Major Program Outline for 2012-2014, for the next 3 years CIVAS will focus more on activities related to zoonoses, food safety, conservation medicine, and animal welfare. CIVAS Directive Board for 2012-2014 is:

The General Assembly nominated 3 Executive Director Candidates : Andri Jatikusumah, DVM, M.Sc, Sunandar, DVM and Erianto Nugroho, DVM. The Directive Board elected Andri Jatikusumah, DVM, M.Sc as CIVAS Executive Director for 2012-2014.
In this new period, we hope CIVAS can increase its participation and capacity in developing veterinary medicine in Indonesia in accord with our vision to achieve public health and welfare through the improvement of animal health, animal welfare and the safety of food from animal origin. (van)
